Vessel summary
The MV 'Lantau Ace' is a 15,315 DWT, 14,278 Gross Tonnage, Marshall Islands flagged, gearless Containership built to a good standard by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Company Limited, in South Korea under GL supervision and was delivered on the 18th April 2001. The vessel is now Classed with DNV GL.

A Condition Inspection of the vessel was conducted on the 2nd February 2021 in Mersin by IDWAL under instruction from portfoliomanagement AöR. Good cooperation was provided by the ship’s crew including limited documents provided.

Ballast tanks, FPT and No 5 Double Bottom and Cargo hold No.5 were made available for entry however no previous reports or photographs were made available for review. The vessel was alongside, discharging at the time of inspection.

The vessel was found to be in a fair overall condition with an IDWAL Grade below the industry average for vessels of a similar age, type and size but with a few notable items found during the inspection. These are reported specifically in the notable items section of this report.

The onboard management was found to be fair with the Safety Management system found to be well implemented and the vessel generally fair. The vessel was found to provide a safe working environment. The Port State Control (PSC) history was found to be poor with 36 deficiencies and 1 detentions in the 6 inspections conducted in the past three years.

Given the fair overall condition of the vessel, OPEX levels are likely to be up to 5% higher than for vessels of a similar age, type and size, if the notable items identified are to be rectified.
